Southwest monsoon season (Jun to September). Over this period the southwest monsoon prevails over Hainan Island. Over theIsland during this period, The wind comes from the Southeast throughout these months thus the term the SW monsoons.

Northeast monsoon season (October to February). This is the mild period of the year and cooler temperatures are experienced in December and January. The wind comes from the North East. Winds vary from 18 up to 25 knots and blow for the majority of the season.

In addition to the trade winds, there is a thermal effect due to the proximity of the mountains. The wind blows always side -on shore.

Small rainy season: in July - August

Summer season: from June until the end of September
The wind blows with 10 to?18 knots. As the temperature is higher, the thermal winds are very ?consistent. There is no swell in this season,
